7:30 pm

The next working bee will be Sunday7th June 2009 starting at 8:00AM.

Secretaries Report.
Gordon, Patrick and myself had a very positive and productive meeting with Councillor Julie Greer and staff from Moreton Bay Regional Council. As a result of questions raised at that meeting, Council have been invited to attend our field to obtain a full understand of our requirements, especially in relation to our overfly area and runway lengths.

Don't forget the competition, which will be voted on at the next Fridays General Meeting for the new club name. Please remember it must contain the words ( Moreton Bay Regional ). You would not believe the attitude change from the people present at the meeting once it was made clear that the club was changing its name.

We have a long, long way to go yet but we do have the support of a very keen Council helping us to insure that our new field will become the show place of Aero Modelling in SEQ.
Please also remember our Charity Airshow and static display.

If you can spare only an hour for the display, please put your name down as it stands we do not have enough people to cover one day of the three days. The folder is on the table at the club house. Whilst doing that also remember to cross your name off or add your name to the list for the Charity Airshow.

Thanking you
Peter Tompkins.

COMMITTEE BYLINES

At the recent committee meeting the following items were discussed:

New members T Baker and S Whitty were approved and welcomed to the club.

There seemed to be a breakdown of communications over the judging of the Harry Gerhmann Craftsmanship competition, for which the committee apologises. As Garth Smith was the only member who turned up with a model for the competition he has been awarded the trophy for this year. The trophy will be engraved accordingly.

There was also apparently some confusion over fuel stocks recently causing one or two members to get annoyed. We ask you to remember that the system is run by volunteers, and if you're not happy with the way its run, feel free to volunteer to do the job yourself!

Dan Sawyer told us he was going to attend the Helifest at Coff's Harbour to participate as well as promote our own Heli Fun-Fly. It seems he did both to good effect and had an enjoyable weekend.

Charity Airshow: The Mayor of the shire has apologised and told us he is unavailable to open the Airshow. Cr Julie Greer has agreed to do the job in his place. Cr Greer is also handling the Uhlmann Rd field application, and appears to be very much on our side.

John Knox Sr. has agreed to do the PA announcing on the day.

It was agreed that gate charges for the Airshow be as follows:
Adults $5, children $2, family pass for two adults and up to four children $15, Pensioners $4.

More volunteers are still needed for the static display at Morayfield Shopping Centre on July 22-24. A roster is on the table in the clubhouse - please add your name to it, even if only for a couple of hours…

One of the mowers is being taken away for servicing and new trailing wheels are needed for the tractor slasher. Repairs are also needed to the shade cloth over the pit area after a recent incident…

The two new DVDs for the library have arrived - they are on The Boneyard (Davies Monthan Air Base in Arizona) and the Kittyhawk - a great one for warbird enthusiasts…

Amalgamation with Wamuran Club: The members of Wamuran have agreed to join PRAMS to simplify the amalgamation process, possibly starting in the new financial year. The competition to decide the new name for PRAMS is in progress - put your suggestion in the folder at the clubhouse!

The review of the club Bye-Laws is to be expedited, and will include a revision of accident and incident reporting procedures.

Members are reminded that it is club policy that covered footwear should be worn while in the pits and pilot area for safety reasons.

Pylon Report from Maryborough on 9-10th May 2009.

The weekend racing started a little late on the Saturday with the local member for Maryborough at the field to open the new shed. The gaming commission donated the majority of the funds and it is was a great moment for the Maryborough club.

With approximately 30 entries for the weekend and the weather being absolutely perfect we were in for some good racing.

The racing was close all weekend and in a couple of cases too close. As two of the planes came around #2 pylon one of the aircraft ran up the backend of the other and with a poof of bits it was in the ground and his racing was over for the weekend; the other aircraft was fine and after landing and checking over flew in the next heat.

The next incident was when an aircraft rounded pylon #3, it was too low and hit the pylon about ½ way up. All I saw was 5 billion bits and a fuselage going at mach 1 up the field and stopping about 50mts from the original crash site. Overall we had fun; yours truly came in a respectable 3rd with the 2 young Toowoomba kids both beating me. Maybe next meet I will jump on their planes, I think it's the only way I will beat them!
Next meet is at Grafton for AMPRA; this is the top gun stuff we will have pilots from all over Australia. This is considered bigger than the nationals and will have approx 50/60 entries. It's on over the queen's birthday weekend so 3 days of flat out racing.

Go hard turn left - Allan Taylor
