PRESIDENT’S REPORT Hello Members, It seems that even though the Airshow was cancelled, with signs placed out on Henry Road as well, about two to three hundred people [who were not to be denied] turned up anyway, along with the Ice-cream man who fed the hordes. Thank you to those of you who entertained these people with your flying. It is disappointing that someone has removed the post from behind the shed which could only be for their own benefit. In my opinion, this should incur a three month suspension. The posts were put there for a reason not just for the hell of it. The August meeting is the AGM. This is the meeting where you all get to vote in a new Committee, so please come along and show your support for the nominees. Gordon, Peter and myself are standing down this term. So we will need nominations to fill these positions ASAP. I would like to thank the current Committee members for making the position of President so easy and manageable for the last few months, it has been a pleasure to work with them and I would work with them again in the future if necessary. Now I must put in my apologies for the next meeting as I will not be in Brisbane. I have asked Gordon Grant to do the honours for me. Thank you for having me as your President. Colin Parry. Air Field Chit Chat Hi Fellow Flyers This edition of Chit Chat is being composed early this month as the Air Waves has to go to members 14 days before the AGM as it contains items pertinent to the AGM. This being the case this edition will probably be short. On Sunday 27th July we had a great working bee with about 30 members in attendance and a tremendous amount of work was achieved. Take a look at the area where the Tractor is garaged .It is paved and finished with gravel on the edges and in the centre. |

The containers have had a further coat of paint
and our Fencing contractor, Jim Fagan has put up a new fence between the
cattle grid and the new gate on the western side of the heli hovering area.
Fran did a great job cooking the breakfast for all with the help of Nadine
and Anne Lindner. Not much to report on flying activities. However last Saturday we had a visit from a modeller from the Gold Coast with his jet. I don’t know the model but it looked like a semi delta wing and very fast. Membership fees have been rolling in, however there still a lot outstanding. If you have not paid your fees for the 2008/2009 year you cannot fly at any MAAA associated Club field. I include a list of members whose fees ore overdue. If you have paid and your name appears in this list, give me a call and I shall look into the matter for you.
I have received a payment on 11/8/08 by direct debit into our bank account. The notation on our Statement is “winchcomb prams member 0809”. Unfortunately there is not a Winchcomb in our data base and the number 0809 is not valid. 809 is for another member. Could the member responsible contact me on ggcj01@bigpond.com or phone 0416 293 634 so that I can fix up the matter. As mentioned above the AGM is on the 29th of this month and we will be presenting to members a new constitution and by-laws. Hopefully these will be included in the August addition of Airwaves. I am not standing for the position of Treasurer this year but will help the incoming Treasurer particularly with the bookkeeping. I have enjoyed my period in office and am proud of the financial results achieved during this period. I thank Members for this opportunity and thank members and the Committee for putting up with me for the past two years. I wish the new executive all the very best for the coming year. Gordon Grant FLYING HIGH BY C.F.I. Round 4 of the club championship was flown on Sunday 3 August, 2008 under the control of guest contest director, Gordon Bartils who also became the eventual winner. A field of 9 members took part. The task was a mini pattern flight incorporating take off, loops, rolls, touch and go and a spot landing within the shortest possible time. All models survived the competition without damage and all appeared to enjoy the event. The next round will be held on Sunday 14 September, 2008 under the control of guest contest director, Keith Berry. Join in and have some fun. Results for this round were :- 1st. Gordon Bartils, 2nd. Kerry Turton, 3rd. Amber Debruen HINT FOR THE MONTH. If you are having problems getting a consistent run from your motor, going rich or lean soon after takeoff, the problem may be fuel foaming. This is the result of vibration causing the fuel to foam with the result that your carefully set needle valve setting (which controls not only fuel flow rate but also fuel/air mixture) is now way out due to the high content of air in the fuel. There are several ways to fix the problem. 1. Make sure that your fuel tank is packed in foam rubber or similar and is not hard against the sides of the tank bay. 2. Add a VERY small amount of Armourall to the fuel . A few drops in 5 litres is sufficient. Armourall is a car cleaning product which is readily available. I believe it is a silicon based liquid. Hint – courtesy of Fran. T.U.V.M. Do you have a good modelling hint? Let me know. Best hint of the year will win the club trainer. WINGS TESTING I will be available for testing after the next club contest if required. SOAPBOX. Hey you. The unidentified vandal who decided to destroy the hard work of your fellow members by removing the posts which were concreted in the ground behind the shed at the last working bee. This was a club decision and whether you agree with it or not you do not have the right to destroy club property. If you are identified start looking for a new flying field you idiot. Odds on you don’t ever come to working bees and have no idea of the work done by your fellow members which you benefit from and choose to destroy. KERRY TURTON C.F.I.
