PRESIDENT’S REPORT

At the Annual General Meeting the vast majority of members present voted for the new Constitution for the club after a presentation of it by Danny Hollis and input from the members. The new Constitution is more up to date and relevant to present times and will become official after being approved by the Office Of Fair Trading. It can be viewed on the P.R.A.M.S. web site under the 'Members' heading, I believe.

On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Danny Hollis, Gordon Grant, Jim Fagan and Neil Tyler for the time and effort they put into making this happen.
Also I would like to thank all of the previous committee members for the excellent job they did in running the club for the past year and in some cases two years.

A club of this size only operates because of the work the committee does. Without a committee you don't have an organized well run club. Also it is a legal requirement to have one.

All of the committee members and appointed positions are unpaid volunteers who give their time for the benefit of the club and it's members not for fame or fortune.

For a club of around 200 members there were very few nominations for management committee positions.

One way to make a good club even better is to replace conflict with co-operation. After all our common interest is the enjoyment of our hobby.

Peter Atkinson

Pylon report - State Champs at Maryborough

With only two representatives from our club making the trip the BRISBANE RACING TEAM as we are known was always going to have poor showing. The highlight was one of the newest members of PRAMS young Chris Morgan age 16 only receiving his solo wings some four weeks before race day and is mad keen to race. So with a little practice with an old out of date racer he decided to have a go and go he did lowering his times every race and at times mixing it with some of the more mature racing fraternity, over all Chris finished in the middle on the score board just behind myself.

Our next race day is at Coolum on the 11th and 12th October so why not come and have look bring the wife and kids then off to the beach, so till next time.

Go hard turn left .

Allan Taylor

JUNIOR CAMP-OVER SEP 27/28

Our assistant CFI, Fran, is organising a camp over for the weekend 27/28 September for the juniors. This will have everybody ready for the Life Member's Day competitions on the Sunday.

All juniors are welcome but under 15s must have a parent accompanying them. You'll need to supply your own camping gear and food.

Contact Fran on 3283 1040 for more details or to book in.

There will naturally be no helicopter hovering allowed in the area whilst the campers are there!

COMMITTEE BYLINES

The following matters have come before the committee recently:
We were saddened to hear that new member Eric Dickeson passed away suddenly on Wed 17th September. Our condolences go out to his family. Flowers have been sent.

Club membership cards will not be issued this year. Your MAAQ card is sufficient identification and it was felt that the work and expense of producing the cards could not be justified. Danny Hollis was thanked for his work in the past in producing these, as well as his on-going work on the constitution and bye-laws.

The new constitution has been sent to the Office of Fair Trading for approval.

Signs will be erected at the field pointing out that children MUST be supervised by a parent or guardian while at the field. Several recent incidences of children playing near models and equipment have prompted this move.

In the new bye-laws it was agreed that all pet animals will be banned from the field.

Dan Sawyer has been welcomed onto the Executive Committee. As a model helicopter pilot his input will provide a balance of opinion. Dan is to draft proposed helicopter operation guidelines in consultation with the other heli pilots for inclusion in the bye-laws.

A key cabinet has been purchased and will be installed at the field to contain all spare keys. A key audit is under way by the secretary, and members may be asked to sign a new key register as part of this process. Any members wishing to obtain keys to club property should ask secretary Peter Tompkins.

The Club Christmas Party will be held on Sunday 7th December. Professional catering has been booked for the day. Further details will be available shortly.

A meeting has been held recently with our local Shire Councillor to discuss options for our present flying field or possible alternatives. Hopefully a report on the meeting will be given at this Friday's meeting.
Dave Wherrett's partner Jenny has offered to help run the canteen at the weekends. Jenny will liaise with Therese on working arrangements.

More pavers will be ordered to install in several more bays of the pit area and also around the Tx compound.

The last working bee saw the car park fencing resited as approved at the last General Meeting. I think everyone appreciates the extra parking space this has created - good idea Bob!

The track is now in better shape after many pot-holes were filled at the working bee. Thanks to all the workers who pitched in and helped on these essential jobs.

More soil will be ordered to top dress the runways and taxiways as well as for repairing the ruts behind the containers. Jobs for the next working bee on October 5th!

LIBRARY NEWS

A new DVD has been purchased for the library - it's called Plane Talking ARTF and covers the building of two ARTF kits, a basic trainer and a more advanced aerobatic ship. This is an excellent introduction for new fliers - see me at the weekend if you'd like to book it out. There are now over 100 DVDs in the library as well as many books on modelling subjects. We also have subscriptions to several magazines and these are also available free to members.

The subscription to RC Sports Flier has expired, and it has been decided not to renew it. The current subscriptions to RCM&E, QEFI and Model Flying will continue.

To free up space in the library cupboard I propose to bundle up some older magazines and books and sell them at the club auction at the October meeting. Any proceeds will go towards buying new items for the library.

As I can't be at the field every day to book out library items, I'm happy to take on any member who'd like to become an assistant librarian and look after the library in my absence. You'll get first look at any new items! (Well, after me, that is..) Booking things in and out is really easy, so it's hardly a difficult job…any takers?
