President's Report
Hi to all Members
Welcome to this month's Airwaves. Firstly I would like to congratulate this year's new Committee members and extend a big thank you to the outgoing members for their time and effort towards the Club.
There seem to be two main issues within the Club at present, the organisation and running of special event days and the issue of Flight Instruction and Wings testing.
Due to inclement weather the previous two "Charity Airshows" have been cancelled or postponed. The present Committee is committed to ensuring the next "Charity Airshow", which is to be held in March, 2010, will proceed rain, hail or shine. (lets hope for sunshine) Other special event days will be looked at. To ensure effective organisation and supervision of the event, we as a club must find it in ourselves to be enthusiastic about these events and become involved.
With regards to the second issue - Flight Instruction and Wings testing. This area is usually staffed by a small number of people and sometimes the demands made upon these people far outweigh the rewards. A review of all listings of Club instructors and other relevant procedures will be carried out by the Committee in the not too distant future. The Committee will also be carrying out a review of the new members pack and welcome any thoughts as to what should be included in these packs. Feedback from recent new members would be appreciated. These members are members who are most effected by the Flight Instruction issues.
Obviously the new airfield will also be high on the to-do list and I wish to thank all those involved in this endeavour for their efforts so far. A big welcome to the members of the Wamuran Flying Club and remember there is no "us" and "them" anymore, it is all "WE" now.
With the increase in size and power of a number of member's aircraft, we need to keep in mind the safety aspects of our sport, in particular aircraft restraints in the pit area. Daryl Thomas, as our newly appointed CFI, will be monitoring this.
I look forward to representing the Club as President and working with everyone over the next twelve months.
Happy Flying!!!!!

Grant Clark
President SAAMBR

Fuel Report: Plenty of stocks. Prices are to be adjusted to reflect the lower price obtained for oil and nitro.

Heli Fun Fly is scheduled for Oct 25th.

Airwaves/Library Report: New DVDs on order from Traplet. RCM&E subs has been renewed.

Development Committee Report: The report was read to the meeting. Projected layout plans were tabled for comment, members input was requested.

Moved that the reports be accepted B Evans, sec P Somerfield. Carried.

General Business: Following the Safety Committee review of the heli hovering area it was decided that the limit of flying be moved a further 10 metres away from the clubhouse, to the 40 metre mark, and a permanent line marked there. All flying to take place beyond that line. Max height of hovering to be limited to 6ft. A sign outlining the rules for the hovering area to be erected at the entrance near the clubhouse.

Designs for a new club logo were tabled, members encouraged to submit more designs. Committee to decide when final judging will take place.

B Evans showed a new design for a folding model restraint. Design drawings for Grant Clark's design of restraint are now available from the club library.

Various dates for the postponed Charity Airshow were discussed. It was finally moved by D Hollis, sec J Fagan that the Airshow be held over until March next year and the committee to decide final date. Carried.

Meeting Closed at 8.30pm.

COMMITTEE BYLINES
At the recent committee meeting the following matter were discussed: the list of instructors to be updated to reflect active instructors only. It was suggested that a roster be set up for instructors to share the load.

Details of name badges have been received. We need to decide on the new club logo so that quotes can be obtained for badges and club shirts.

Reminders will be sent out to all members who have so far fasiled to renew their membership.

New fuel prices to be calculated - see notice above.

The Gobson Flying Field Committee had a very successful meeting with the MBRC recently and the Council appreciated the speedy amalgamation of the two clubs. It has been suggested that a flying demo be put on for Councillors on a weekday in November. A club trainer will be made available for Councillors to try…members will be asked to bring suitable models along to show off what we do.

Sunday March 14th 2010 was decided on for the Charity Airshow, this date to be put to the members at the next General Meeting.

Club Bye-Laws and Constitution are to be reviewed and amended ASAP.

First aid kits at the flying field are to be replenished.

Committee position badges to be considered when we purchase name badges.
