The November Meeting is the Annual Club Auction, so "bring out your dead" or not so dead goodies and turn them into cash ***CHRISTMAS DINNER***
Time's running out Book now. Wed 2nd December
is teh last date for payment, make sure you get your tickets before then.
The club needs more Transmitters to use as buddy boxes. If you have an old set you no longer need see Goprdon grant to negotiate the donation or sale. President's Report Thanks also to everyone for a great effort on the 13th November for the MBR Council / Morayfield Shopping Centre day. Whether you were part of the official party or just came down to the field to fly or have a look. THANKYOU! I believe it was a great day and Julie Greer and Jennifer Plate have a very good idea of what the club is about and the people that make up its membership. W Wow more thanks this time to all those who participated in the "Life Members" day and the "Warbirds" day. The club is really starting to fire up and get involved in the events as I had hope you all would. Let's keep it going and it should culminate into an absolutely huge charity open day in March 2010. The new By Laws should be ready for the January Airwaves and need to be ratified and passed at the January meeting. Thanks to all who have worked on the By Laws including pass committees and Danny Hollis. I look forward to finally having a working set of By Laws and even though the By Laws are a living document we can at least put them to bed for a while. I would like to wish all members a safe and happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Please remember there is no flying on Christmas day but the rest of the holiday season is open. Happy flying and may you all get new aircraft for Christmas! Happy Flying!!!!! Grant Clark FRIDAY 13th, COUNCIL OPEN DAY, WAS NOT
A BLACK DAY. The club's Gibson Field Committee wishes to thank everyone involved in the day which was a resounding success. The idea was to demonstrate the sorts of models we use and fly so that in discussion Council staff have a better idea of what is required. It is true that a couple of invitees were unable to attend and so we had more buddy box trainers than we needed, a better option than not enough. It was gratifying to arrive at the field and see so many members and flying models there. The support members gave to the New Field Committee on that day was outstanding. It is impossible to single out members but the support was great. Whilst the visitors were having lunch and watching the free flying going on, Committee members were able to glean information and establish some parameters for the new feld with them. We just hope that into the near future members will still support the committee trying to bring Gibson Field to reality, and it is happening. Council Prelim work on the entry commences approx 23rd November. Again, thank you everyone for a great day, including family members who helped in the canteen. The committee has achieved a fair amount in a relatively short time. Currently the lions share has been carried out by Bill Darby and myself, backed up by Bill Sharpe & Jim Gibson; that is about to change as we progress from here. Gordon is forming the policy of grant applications with Peter, (no small task). It will not be long before working bees will be held at Uhlmann road. Again thanks Guys and Girls for the day and organising time off work etc to attend. The Gibson Field Committee saw it as a sign of real support and assistance. It was moved by G Webb, sec J Fagan that the welder be purchased for $500 subject to a functional test. Carried. President's Report: As published in Airwaves. A new procedure for membership applications is being drawn up. Correspondence: As per the Correspondence Book. Secretary's Report: The old PRAMS signs
have been taken down at the field and it was suggested they be repainted
as SAAMBR. It was pointed out that making new signs would probably be
cheaper, and that the old signs should be kept as part of club history.
It was moved by D Mount, sec S de Brueys that the old signs be kept. Carried. New Members: Four new members were introduced. Treasurer's Report: The report was circulated. CFI Report: One Bronze Wings and one Gold Wings awards were presented. Field Maintenance Report: As published in Airwaves, there will be no working bee this month. However, the memorial board in the club house is to be moved to the opposite side to make room for a notice board near the entry. Repairs to the cattle grid are in hand. Fuel Report: New fuel prices have been published in Airwaves. Safety gear has been supplied for members mixing fuel, also ear muffs provided for tractor operators. Plenty of fuel stock in hand. Heli Report: The Fun Fly went off well, despite windy weather and reduced numbers compared to last time. 23 pilots attended, but several sponsors let us down. The new rules for the helicopter training area were read out and approved. A sign is to be made displaying these rules and erected at the entry to the area by the clubhouse. Library Report: Two new DVDs have been donated. Gibson Field Committee Report: MBR Council
are going ahead with construction of the entry to the field, the committee
is organizing the provision of a culvert to cross the drain on the entry
roadway. Moved that the reports be accepted G Reid, sec D Mount. Carried. General Business: The club Christmas Party
is coming soon - please buy your tickets from G Grant or from the canteen
soon! Meeting Closed at 8.55pm. COMMITTEE BYLINES Amber de Brueys has been nominated for the 'Best Crash of the Year' award. Amber will also be given one of the club trainers for her use - congratulations on achieving your Instructor's Wings, Amber! Bill Sharpe has kindly donated 20 litres of oil for use in the tractor - many thanks! Bill has also offered to bring along a pressure cleaner to clean the tractor ready for repainting. Repairs to the brakes etc on the tractor are to be put in hand. Metal is to be ordered for the repairs to the cattle grid. MAAA has decided to leave it up to individual clubs to decide on limits to the number of models allowed to be operated at one time on 2.4GHz radios. The committee agreed that a limit of six models airborne at any one time will be our club standard. A 20 minute key limit on the all bands will be enforced. We have been approached to host groups
from local Old Peoples Homes at the field for morning teas and a flying
demo - it was agreed that these are good PR and should be encouraged.
Past visits have been much appreciated by the old folks concerned, and
we hope to continue them. Any members wishing to organize these visits
are asked to contact the committee. LIBRARY NEWS There are a few outstanding items from the library - if you have any waiting to be returned, please bring them back - other members are waiting for them! I'm pleased to say that the vast majority of members are very good at returning items promptly - thank you for that. We have over 120 DVDs in the library now, plus many books and magazines. For new members, I am usually at the field on Saturday and Sunday mornings to book library stuff in and out, also occasionally during the week. If any member who regularly flies during the week, and would like to become an assistant librarian to cater for midweek members, please contact me and I'll show you how the system works and get you a key for the cupboard! It's not rocket science, but a valued service the club provides to members. I'll be bundling up some old magazines to sell off at the club auction - grab yourself some cheap reading! On the open shelves in the clubroom are many older magazines donated by members - these are 'freebies' that you can borrow at any time without having to book them out if any item has a PRAMS or SAAMBR label on it - you need to book it out!
