Letter from the President

Well, it's hard to believe that a year has come and gone and the AGM is fast approaching. What a year we have had. The club has enjoyed renewed interest with good responses to our static displays - Sandgate P.C.Y.C. earlier this year and the Morayfield Shopping Centre just recently. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all those involved in the club's endeavours. To all the people who worked so hard for this year's airshow, a special thankyou to all of you. This is one of the first times in my memory that we actually had enough volunteers to cover all aspects of the show. This year has seen some good growth in the membership as well as the establishment of a junior branch of the club to cater for all the up and coming flyers and future stalwarts. To the rest of the committee, my gratitude goes out to you for all the effort and behind the scenes work that helps make the club continue to grow and maintain it's place as one of the greatest model clubs in Australia.

Sadly, this growth comes at a price. In our case, that price has been an increase in theft of club property. Our Vice President informs me that two gazebos, that were donated to the club, disappeared about a week before the airshow as well as a hose that Bob uses to transfer water between tanks. If you need to borrow something, just ask and we can normally arrange for a short term loan. At least then, we know where the gear is. If anyone is found to be in possession of club property, without proper permission, we will have no hesitation in reporting the matter to the authorities. Not only would this lead to expulsion from this club, but it would be highly unlikely that any other club would welcome the guilty party. Hopefully, the equipment will be returned, no questions asked, in the near future.

On a happier note, I would like to wish the next committee all the best with their roles for the coming year and ask all members to get behind them and give your full support. Don't forget, they are members as well, and would like to get a chance to fly occasionally.

Happy flying,

Pat Benson
